Windows

All actual MS Windows versions like Windows ME, NT4 (SP6), 2000, and XP are supported. Problems may occur on older MS Windows versions like Windows 95 and Windows 98, but in most cases it should work. Anyway, Windows 2000 and Windows XP is recommended. GsLantern EASY! needs the Visual BASIC 6 runtime environment, which comes with all MS Windows versions since Windows ME. For older Windows versions you can download the files here.

GhostScript

Make sure to use GNU/GPL GhostScript 7.0 (or newer), or AFPL GhostScript 8.0 (or newer)! Special features like PDF graphics resolution reduction (and others) may not work in older GhostScript versions (e.g AFPL GhostScript 7.04)!

PostScript Driver

A large number of PostScript drivers comes with the MS Windows OS "for free", e.g. HP Color LaserJet PS, HP Color LaserJet 5/5M PS, HP LaserJet 4050 Series PS, Linotronic 300 v47.1, OKIPAGE 10i PS, and many more. Basically, all of these drivers should work with GsLantern EASY! However, some drivers may work better compared to others for certain purposes: on driver may produce nicely small PDF files, another driver may be very good on gray-scaling photographs.
If you like to use Adobes latest PostScript technology, download the Adobe Generic PostScript Printer from www.adobe.com.
However, the only really good driver for extracting ASCII text from documents is the HP Color LaserJet 5/5M PS!

Mail-Client

All non-exotic mail clients like MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera etc. are supported. The only requirement is the support of Microsofts standard MAPI interface.
