A game account can remain accessible from devices that were previously used to sign in, even after another person receives its login details. That makes account security a device-level issue as much as an email issue. Old sessions, recovery methods, and linked contact details can all affect who can regain access.

This matters particularly with transferred accounts. People researching marketplaces where you can buy a CoC account here should understand that receiving login credentials does not automatically remove earlier access. More importantly, Supercell explicitly prohibits buying, selling, sharing, or giving game accounts under its Terms of Service. The company warns that a seller may retain access and that transferred accounts can face suspension or permanent closure.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Securing Account Access

If you are dealing with an account that has changed hands, the security problem has several layers. The linked email may still contain old recovery information. Other devices may have active sessions. The Supercell ID may also have recovery settings connected to someone else. Each layer needs to be considered separately.

Step 1: Secure the Linked Email First

Start with the email account linked to the game. If you legitimately control that mailbox, review its security settings before changing anything inside the game. Update the password, check recovery options, review signed-in devices, and enable the email provider’s two-factor authentication where available.

This order matters because Supercell ID relies heavily on access to its registered email. Supercell Support states that players who still have access to their Supercell ID email can use it to sign back into their account. The company also uses email verification when certain security settings are changed.

Do not share verification codes, recovery codes, or email credentials with another person. Supercell Support specifically warns that verification and recovery codes should not be shared with anyone other than its support team.

Step 2: Check for Other Signed-In Devices

Securing the mailbox does not necessarily end existing game sessions. Someone who previously used the account could still have a recognized device. This is why reviewing login alerts is an important second step.

Supercell Support says it sends an email when a Supercell ID is accessed from a new device. If a login is unfamiliar, the alert can provide an option indicating that the device is not yours. Supercell’s support guidance says this process can lead to a page where the Supercell ID is signed out across devices.

After a broad sign-out, expect to authenticate again on the device you intend to use. Treat any unexplained login notification after that point as a warning that another person may still possess usable credentials or recovery information.

Step 3: Review the Supercell ID Email

Next, check which email address is attached directly to the Supercell ID. This is separate from simply changing the password of an existing mailbox.

Supercell’s account-recovery documentation confirms that the email associated with a Supercell ID can be changed in supported circumstances. When Support handles a recovery, for example, it may require a new email address that is not already connected to another Supercell ID.

Only make changes through the official game interface or Supercell support channels. Avoid handing verification codes to sellers, intermediaries, or people claiming that they can bypass security restrictions.

Step 4: Turn On Account Protection

Once the account’s legitimate ownership and eligibility are established, review Account Protection. This is Supercell’s additional recovery system for Supercell ID.

Supercell Support explains that Account Protection can use SMS verification and recovery codes if a player becomes locked out of the associated email. It can be activated through Settings, Supercell ID, the settings cogwheel, and Account Protection. A phone number is required for SMS verification.

Store generated recovery codes somewhere separate from the device used to play. Supercell notes that generating new recovery codes invalidates the old ones. Changing the phone number associated with Account Protection also creates new codes.

Step 5: Avoid Treating Security Delays as Something to Bypass

Users sometimes encounter temporary restrictions after signing in from new hardware or making security changes. Marketplace guidance may describe a 14-day waiting period for certain recovery or device-related changes. However, Supercell’s public Account Protection documentation does not establish a universal 14-day transfer lock for purchased accounts. Its official position is instead that account transfers are prohibited.

For that reason, a temporary restriction should not be treated as a security mechanism to work around. Avoid repeated recovery attempts, unusual device switching, or attempts to disguise where access originates. A careful approach to managing gaming software and tools can also help keep the wider gaming environment organized, particularly when several applications or utilities are involved. If an official security feature is unavailable, follow the instructions shown in the game or use the official support process.

Why Device Continuity Still Matters

Hardware continuity matters because account security systems can consider unfamiliar devices and unusual activity when deciding whether certain protection features should be available. Supercell Support states that Account Protection may be unavailable when unusual activity has been detected, although it may become available later.

The broader lesson is simple. Control of a username or email address is only one part of account security. Existing device sessions, recovery numbers, email access, and recovery codes can provide separate paths back into an account.

For Clash of Clans specifically, there is another risk that cannot be fixed with stronger passwords or 2FA. Supercell states that transferred accounts violate its rules and warns that it cannot guarantee the security of bought accounts. Anyone dealing with account access should therefore distinguish between securing credentials and establishing legitimate ownership. Strong security practices can reduce unauthorized access, but they cannot override the platform’s account-transfer rules.
